This therapy is NOT like regular therapies taught in OT and PT schools.  This is something
much deeper than you can possibly imagine.  If you work with children with autism, it will be the most important tool in your toolbox, and you will be using it everyday in your practice.  Don't bother with other therapies until at least 6 months of QST.  The improvements can cut years off of traditional OT/PT/SLP.  If you are a professional and would like to learn this therapy for your clients,

Testimonial

“This desperate mom could not be more grateful for what this therapy is doing for our family.  It is seriously changing our life.  Her vocabulary consisted of "yeah, no, dadun, mommy, hi, and puppy" with a few other words mixed in here and there.  Now my chatty Charlie won't stop talking!  She is sleeping, eating, and the meltdowns have gone down so much.  I'm shocked how fast I've seen change.  I didn't think I'd see any change for months.  It is also making me a nicer mom because I actually get to sleep at night.  I could not be more grateful for what this therapy has done for my kiddo and our family!” – Anna H. testimonial about Qigong Sensory Therapy (QST) and her 2 year old with moderate ASD.

Q & A

1.  What is QST?
Qigong Sensory Therapy (QST) is a medical therapy that is directed at acupuncture points and meridian channels on the front and back of the body.  These movements not only unblock the energy channels, but improves the C-tactile fibers depleted in the skin.  Biopsies taken in children with mild to severe autism showed C-tactile fiber loss.  This may display as abnormalities in sensory integration. QST normalizes the sense of touch and re-balances the body into the parasympathetic mode, away from the flight or flight response.  As the sensory systems start normalizing (after only a few short weeks) the sensory systems start working together.  Children calm down and focus.  They become aware of themselves and receptive to other people.  Eye contact, behavior, bowels, and sleep start to improve.  The child becomes more comfortable in social situations and new developmental skills appear.  Although results vary, it is common for non-verbal children or those without eye-contact to start improving within one to five months of starting QST.

2.  Will this cure my child of autism?
The official answer is no.  This therapy is not a cure for autism.  However, it can reduce or eliminate the symptoms associated with autism.  These symptoms include:  head-banging, hand flapping, behavioral issues, sleep disturbances, food intolerances, bowel abnormalities, sensory integration abnormalities, low muscle tone, no verbal communication, no eye contact, abnormalities with the sense of touch, etc.

3.  What is the protocol?
The QST protocol is a two-pronged approach.  An authorized QST therapist will give 20 treatments over a 3-month period, while the therapist-trained caregiver gives the child the massage everyday.  The massage takes approximately 15 minutes once the major "energy blocks" are removed.  Every massage is individualized and the caregiver is guided throughout the process.  After the 20 sessions with the QST therapist, the caregiver is encouraged to continue the therapy everyday until the child reaches their age-appropriate developmental milestones.  Studies show that children continue to improve while receiving the therapy.  Once symptoms like eye-contact or verbal communication have developed, they are unlikely to regress.

Parents can learn the massage with three options:  On their own with information from Dr. Louisa's book, full instruction from a certified trainer, or taking the 12-week online parent training course from QSTI.  In moderate to severe cases it's best to have the guidance of a professional throughout the protocol.  You will absolutely need it.

4.  Does this therapy always work?
Just like any other therapy, results vary.  There are different reasons for having autism.  I go over this in my video library and more in-depth during my in-person training sessions.  Depending on the cause, parents will see different things.  Many children with vaccine injury have great results.  More on how vaccines cause autism symptoms below.  I have treated children that had nothing but miraculous results; including a doctor removing a child's mild cerebral palsy and severe autism diagnoses within 3 months of starting QST!  See those results HERE.

From the results of the published studies on QSTI.org you can see children's symptoms improved on an average of 32%; which means children with severe autism can become more moderate, children with moderate autism can become more mild, and those with mild autism can come off the autism spectrum.  Studies show that some of the children with severe autism finished the study with levels in the mild range.

5.  There is no way my child will lie still for this!
This is a typical concern from many parents.  Don't worry!!  We teach you what to do!  Many children will not allow parents or therapists to give the massage at first.  There are methods around this that work beautifully.  Absolutely NO NEED for your child to be tortured or made to feel like they are under attack.  This is an extremely GENTLE therapy.  We will teach you ways to accommodate for those early treatments!  Eventually, even those that felt uncomfortable being touched (like many children with autism) will LOVE it within just a few weeks.  Caregivers will love it too!  Especially when their child that never gave them hugs start wanting them.

6.  Do vaccines cause autism?
This is a highly debated topic.  The answer is complex as it is easy.  According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, autism is caused by TRAUMA, DEFICIENCY, or TOXINS.  I go over this more in my Basic Training Video, but vaccines can "block up" the body's energy system causing symptoms.  Just like a bee sting or peanuts can cause anaphylactic shock in some people, vaccines can cause the body to react in some people; especially young children.  Medications do this too.  They are called "side effects".  Head banging, hand flapping, picking, behavioral issues, abnormal bowel movements, sleep disturbances, and sometimes even low muscle tone are considered SYMPTOMS.  It's the body telling you there is damage or blocks to the system and that the body needs to be re-balanced and corrected.  Medical Qigong can do that!

One other topic I do not go into is the change in autism rates once aborted fetal cells were used to create vaccines in 1988.  According to the Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute, a biomedical research organization, there have been distinct spikes in autism rates in the years when vaccines grown in human fetal cells were introduced.  This is information that should be taken into consideration before being vaccinated (including the Covid vaccines which use aborted fetal cells as well).

7.  Do I have to stop my occupational therapy or physical therapy appointments to start QST?
Absolutely not!  QST can work alongside conventional OT or PT, however, it's best to start QST PRIOR to starting any NEW therapy if possible.  The reason for this is that QST can have dramatic changes within a very short amount of time.  Some OT or PT therapies may not be required after a few short months of QST.  Also, after QST therapy some conventional OT or PT may work better with quicker results.  With this being said, if you are already receiving OT or PT services, there is no need to stop.  QST can also be used with very young children; as young as 18 months or so.  It's non-invasive, extremely safe, easy to learn, and children and parents LOVE it!

I always worked with other therapists while doing the QST protocol.  My work did not interfere with what they were working on.  Ever.  I do not do conventional OT, and no longer practice in the occupational therapy realm.  Why?  Because I have found QST works better than any other OT therapy I have been exposed to for autism.  Some OTs or PTs do both QST and conventional therapy.  My passion is QST.  There is no threat to other therapists or facilities; except those with ill-intentions or ulterior motives.  The examples I have of this would make you question the healthcare industry.

8.  How much does this therapy cost?
It depends on the provider.  If the therapy is coming from a health care provider that accepts insurance, this therapy can be covered by occupational therapy, physical therapy, and some doctor's visits.  Each QST provider has different costs.

9.  Do we need to hire a certified QST Therapist?
Depends.  Some caregivers find they are able to learn the therapy on their own and have great results after reading the book.  Many parents go through the 12-week online training course and find that is perfect for them.  Others may find the guidance of a certified therapist very much needed.  If your child has moderate to severe autism it is best to have the guidance of a trained QST therapist.  Although the therapy is easy to learn, there are many things to learn first and understand as you go.  Training is constant.  Each and every session with the child will be different and will need to be tweaked accordingly.  Trained guidance can make a HUGE difference.  It is only needed short-term though.  The job of the QST therapist is to make you a master in your own child's therapy.  By the end of training you will be very comfortable taking over.

10.  Should I purchase the book that goes along with the massage?
Absolutely YES!  The book has so much information that is going to be helpful for anyone giving the therapy.  Find those books HERE.

11.  How can this therapy help children with Down syndrome or cerebral palsy?
Children with Down syndrome can improve their language and motor control.  Children with cerebral palsy can improve their motor control and muscle tone.  To read published studies on how QST worked with children who have Down syndrome or cerebral palsy click HERE.

12.  What are the contraindications (things that will not work with QST)?
This therapy is contraindicated for those children with active seizure disorders.  The tapping on the head may trigger seizures.  If your child has seizures but currently controlled by medication, it should be okay.  If the seizures are triggered, then please immediately stop all QST therapy.  If this is the case, please research the positive effects of cannabis oil, CBD oil, or hemp oil, on seizure disorders.

This therapy is contraindicated for those children going through medication changes.  While changing medications it may be difficult to determine what is helping the child.  Please wait until medications are stabilized before starting a QST program.

This therapy is contraindicated for children on specific medications like Risperdal, Tegretol, or other anti-psychotic medications. The reason for this is that those medications may re-block the system after the therapy has cleared the system.  Your efforts will be short-lived as soon as they take those medications again.  DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD OFF THEIR MEDICATIONS.  If you are interested in this therapy, please talk to your doctor first before making ANY changes to their medications!!  Some parents wait until the summer months while their children are off some of their medications that help them focus during school months.  Again, talk to the child's doctor first!

This therapy is contraindicated for children having severe emotional disorders.  While re-balancing the system, the body will go through many changes.  Emotional changes occur as well.  Talk to their doctor first before starting a QST program.
