Healing Beyond the Physical: Rethinking the Root Cause

This question has become a bit of a cliché in mainstream medicine. It’s asked, but rarely answered in a way that truly dives deep. Why? Because the answer can be far more complex than just a prescription pad scribble with a physician’s name at the bottom. And to me, that’s not answering “the question.” So what is the answer? The answer is everything. And the cure? Perhaps, paradoxically, nothing—or maybe more.

When we look at chronic health conditions, it’s easy to think that blood tests, scans, and a detailed lifestyle questionnaire will provide us the answers. But here’s the issue: the mind, body, and soul are intricately connected, and no test can measure that connection. Tests only quantify what’s obvious, the physical manifestation of deeper imbalances. But what if the deeper answer lies beyond the physical? What if the key to healing is understanding the frequencies of the body and the energy that flows through it? What if there’s truth in concepts like German New Medicine or energy healing, where healing occurs on a vibrational level, not just a biochemical one?

There are countless stories of spontaneous healing, where someone—against all odds—finds a way to overcome what modern medicine says is impossible. Can love heal? Can gratitude shift the very vibration of our cells, allowing us to break free from disease and return to wellness? And what if illness itself is fated, part of a larger design, part of a soul’s journey? Would it change the way we approach healing?

We can no longer view chronic illness with blinders on. The body is far more complex than what can be measured through basic tests and scans. Yes, tests are important, but they only show part of the story. The body is constantly striving to return to homeostasis. Higher or lower levels of a certain marker don’t necessarily mean something is wrong—they might simply reflect the body’s effort to restore balance. For example, if a root canal leads to high levels of bacteria in the body, the body may go into overdrive, trying to manage this imbalance. High blood pressure, breast cancer, even high cholesterol—they are symptoms, not root causes. The body’s way of signaling that something isn’t right. But we need to ask, what's the underlying cause of these symptoms?

So, what does it take to truly understand “the root cause”? The answer isn't simple, and the smartest doctors, no matter how well-intentioned, only know what they’ve been taught. Healers of all kinds—conventional or alternative—offer insights from their own experiences, but ultimately, they too are navigating a vast, complex puzzle. When I say "Get back to basics," I don’t mean just focusing on lifestyle changes (although that can make a huge difference). What I’m talking about is a return to the true understanding that healing comes from within first and foremost. The rest is supporting the body’s innate wisdom.

Many will disagree with me on this, and that’s okay. Conventional medicine teaches us about viruses, glucose, enzymes, cholesterol, and white blood cells. But if those things truly held all the answers, how do we explain the spontaneous healings that sometimes occur in the most unlikely circumstances? How do we explain miracles happening in hospitals?
There’s so much more to healing than we can possibly understand in this moment. It’s time we embrace a more holistic, expansive view of the mind, body, and soul, and acknowledge how deeply interconnected they truly are. Healing is more than just fixing the physical—it’s about understanding that the body, mind, and spirit work in unison. If we allow ourselves to look at all of it, we just might find the answers we’ve been searching for.
